Kutque Story Kutque Story

Founded in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor region, Kutque operates in the premium wine industry, focusing on terroir-driven, biodynamic production. Rooted in the ancient winemaking traditions of the Areni Sev (Areni Noir) grape, a varietal with millennia-old origins in the region, the brand reflects Armenia’s deep wine heritage.

Kutque’s vineyards and estate practices are shaped by high-altitude dry-farming, integrated livestock, and holistic land stewardship that emphasize ecological balance and quality over volume.

Key Characteristics

Establishment of biodynamic, dry-farmed vineyards in Aghavnadzor and Areni, Vayots Dzor.Adoption of hand harvesting and minimal-intervention winemaking tied to natural rhythms.Recognition for embodying Armenia’s ancient wine legacy, connecting modern practice with historical benchmarks such as the Areni-1 Cave wine site, one of the world’s earliest known winemaking sites (≈4100 BC).

Brand Overview

Kutque’s wine-making sits at the intersection of heritage, terroir, and ecological consciousness. On its estates in Aghavnadzor and the Areni region of Vayots Dzor, the cultivation relies on dry-farming (no irrigation), minimal intervention, and livestock integration (chickens, sheep, cows) to feed and aerate the soil naturally.

The volcanic and sedimentary soils at high altitude, combined with the thick-skinned Areni Sev grape and biodynamic practices, result in wines noted for their depth, purity, and connection to place.

Rather than a large, generic portfolio, Kutque focuses on premium, terroir-driven wines that tell a story of land, climate, and craftsmanship.

Innovation & Technology

Kutque implements advanced sustainability and biodynamic practices:

The vineyard integrates livestock and crops into its cycle, using manure-based compost rather than synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, strengthening the natural balance.Dry-farming forces vine roots deeper into volcanic and sedimentary strata, extracting minerals and giving grapes resilience and character.Harvesting is hand-done once the vine signals readiness, a deliberate, slow process tied to nature’s rhythm rather than calendar dates. The winery also uses traditional Armenian amphorae (“karas”) and other natural materials to honor ancient practices and reduce industrial footprints.

Through these practices, Kutque positions itself not just as a wine producer but as a steward of its land, heritage, and ecosystem.

Our Product Range

Kutque maintains a focused, premium portfolio built around the Areni Sev grape and biodynamic farming, rather than a wide, volume-driven catalog.
